Dove Kent
Dove Kent is an organizer, movement strategist, and political educator with two decades of experience building grassroots power. From 2011 to 2017, Dove served as Executive Director of Jews for Racial & Economic Justice (JFREJ). During her tenure, the organization tripled in size and helped win major legislative victories for police accountability and workers’ rights through powerful local coalitions. Dove helped build JFREJ into one of the country’s leading progressive Jewish organizations and strengthened its role in organizing across the Jewish community and the broader racial and economic justice movement. Dove later served as Senior Strategy Officer at Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, where she organized Jews across the country against the rise of the far right during the two years leading up to the defeat of Donald Trump. Most recently, Dove served as US Director and Interim Executive Director of Diaspora Alliance, an international organization confronting two interrelated threats to democracy worldwide: antisemitism and its political misuse. She supported teams across the US and Europe to disrupt and dismantle antisemitism while enhancing civil society, human rights, and justice for all. Dove is a co-founder of Tzedek Lab, a national network of Jewish political educators, organizers, and spiritual leaders working to build the skills and political understanding needed to challenge racism, antisemitism, and white supremacy and move communities toward collective action. She teaches and speaks nationally; her writing and commentary have appeared on NPR, The Guardian, Ha’aretz, +972 Magazine, Jewish Currents and in What We Do Now: Standing Up for Your Values in Trump’s America, Towards the “Other America”: Anti-racist Resources for White People Taking Action for Black Lives Matter, Understanding Antisemitism: An Offering to Our Movement. Dove lives in Durham, North Carolina, where she parents, step-parents, dog-parents, and attempts to keep her vegetable garden going.
